Kinematics

Kinematics

Kinematics is the study of motion without considering what causes the motion.

Dynamics

Dynamics is also the study of motion, but with its relation to the force causing the motion.

Distance and Displacement

Distance-time graph

Distance-time graphs are a useful way of describing the motion of an object. They show how the distance moved from a starting point changes over time.

Instantaneous velocity

Velocity-time graph

Velocity-time graphs show how the distance moved from a starting point changes over time. The slope of a velocity graph represents the acceleration of the object. So, the value of the slope at a particular time represents the acceleration of the object at that instant. The area under the line in a velocity-time graph represents the distance travelled.
